Operation amotekun is to cater for the inability of the police security,says barrister olalekan olatoyinbo

Governors in the south west zone has flagged-off the operation of the western Nigeria security network "amotekun", stressing that it would complement the mainstream security agencies in the country.
According to barrister olalekan olatoyinbo he said,"the southern governors comprises of osun,Oyo,Ogun, Lagos,ondo and ekiti has come together in other to curb the security problem in the region, ranging from kidnapping,ritual killing,banditry and arm robbery.as a result of that, they said we should have a security outfit to cater for the inability of the police.they come together to form a security outfit which is operation "amotekun".

He continue,"before the submission of the outfit there is no wide confrontation,after the legal frame work of the security outfit in nigeria,basically,the security of life and property of every citizen is been taking care of by the Nigeria police and other align corps".

In his statement he said,there are some body in charge of the security apparatus,any security outfit outside the existing ones has to be dully back by law,so he refer it to legal frame work.and as today operation "amotekun" has not been legally back by law.

When asked if there will be a fraction between the police and the newly security outfit,he answered,"ordinarily at the inception when they are moving the outfit,they intend to make it a military and civilian joint task force,but at the tale end,the police are saying that they can't work together with the vigilantes and the hunters who are not trained in the act of any security outfit".

He also explain that the police doesn't know how the recruitment will be made among the local vigilantes and the hunters. and also,they don't know the modernity of the equipment.it is only the name of the operation that has been revealed.

Barrister olalekan olatoyinbo added that the reason why other region don't want the operation to stay in the south west is because,the northerners and the other region are seeing the operation as a threat or as a way the westerners region wants to use to break out from the so called one Nigeria.

He added that the belief of the politicians who are not in power is that they assume the incumbent Governors who are spearheading the security outfit will use it for their own advantage during the election period.

He said the peoples are clamouring that there should be an independent body that will guild the operation instead of the politicians controlling every aspect of the operation,because in Nigeria every politicians use any opportunity to their advantage.
